A little bit about me

Buongiorno, I am Georgina Polydorou (or Gina for short), an 18 year old university student from London studying Game Art Design at DeMontfort university, most recognisable by my panda hat and love of Garrus Vakarian. I am currently in my first year and can already see just how challenging this course is going to be, but I will always work hard to do my best, as I always have, that I can assure you!

Ever since I can remember I've always wanted to do something art-related as a career, around the age of 12 I started to fall into the idea that I wanted to do something related to animation, and by the time I was 13 I was self-learning how to paint in Photoshop and bought a tablet to aid me in this. When I was about 14, the award-winning game 'Uncharted: Drake's Fortune' came out and after watching the making of the game I decided I wanted to work in the gaming industry. I have since been practicing art on a regular basis, I took graphic design as an A level and went to regular life drawing classes outside of school every week as well as drawing my own personal stuff in my own time. I have pursued this to the point where I was able to get onto a brilliant course that could teach me exactly what I needed to make my way into the gaming industry.

Thus far my favourite part of the course has been photographing bins:

How to work hard

Outside of art I have a variety of other hobbies. Being on a gaming course means that yes, I thoroughly enjoy video games. With a passion. My favourite series being Uncharted, Fallout, Mass Effect, Assassin's Creed and the Batman: Arkham series. I love a game with a good story and gorgeous cutscenes to top it off, cutscenes is definitely a department I'd love to get into.

Gaming and drawing aren't the only things I love though, I absolutely adore cosplaying, which is dressing up as characters from games, tv shows, anime, anything really and attending cosplay meets and conventions. I have met a variety of wonderful people, some of who are now my closest friends and I have even met other cosplayers since starting at uni! We plan on making a cosplay society at some point. Cosplaying has helped me become more confident in myself, I was incredibly shy before I started cosplaying, now after meeting so many new people I've grown the confidence to talk to new people.

I don't have anything much more to say about myself as I'm probably a pretty boring person haha I'll just leave off with the note that I love superheroes and if I don't make it into the game industry, I want to become one. Ciao!
